The EIT Food School Network: Integrating solutions to improve eating habits and reduce food wastage 2020

The “EIT Food School Network” third year activities are focused on the organisation of four stakeholder workshops (school staff, key organisations involved in regulating schools, academics and policy makers). Due to the current circumstances, these may be virtual. The aim of these workshops is to communicate results of the past two years of research conducted as part of the EIT Food School Network project and involve stakeholders in co-creation of activities and ideas going forward.

2018
2020

The EIT Food School Network is a collaboration working towards improving dietary choices and reducing food wastage in preschool, primary school and secondary school pupils by bringing together industry, academia and key stakeholders in school food. A range of work packages were conducted by project partners in 2018 and 2019, including the development of an educational app, early educator resources and qualitative research with key stakeholders in secondary schools.

Four stakeholder workshops will be held, either virtually or in person, towards the end of 2020. The main aims of the workshops are:

  1. To consolidate the network and bring stakeholders together
  2. To present 2018/2019 project results
  3. To promote the exchange of ideas and information and ensure effective translation of the project findings to date

Project partners are working to supplement the already created tools for pre-schools, primary and secondary schools by developing mindful eating workshops for pupils. The tools developed in the first two years of the EIT Food School Network are also being adapted for dissemination to parents.
