Every year we waste over a billion tons of food while there are 700 million of people suffering from hunger. Not only these are crazy numbers, but according to FAO's report, simply by making use of the food we end up throwing away, we could feed more than a billion of people. Now the final debate comes in hand... how?
On October 3rd, the World Sustainable Urban Food Centre (CEMAS), with the collaboration of European Food Information Council (EUFIC), has organised an event called A Multi-Stakeholder Perspective on Food Loss and Waste Reduction Strategies in Valencia Conference Center, Spain.
Big experts and stakeholders like universities, city networks, European authorities, and FAO will participate in the high-level event, which focus will be sharing insights, raising awareness and creating collaboration to face the present issue.
What is EIT Food's role?
Considering the great welcoming that Los Salvacomidas has had through its years of life, the project has got the attention of the organisers, who have asked Miriam Sastre, Senior Communications&Events Manager at EIT Food South and creator of Los Salvacomidas, to participate as a panellist in one of the sessions named 'Communication & awareness raising' to talk about the creation and outcomes of Los Salvacomidas.
